LETTERS TO LANDMARK

"Letters to Landmark" is a permanent public art piece installed in the Landmark Center in St. Paul, MN.  The Landmark used to be a Federal building and housed the district court and a huge post office.  The map above is a section of a map of the city of St. Paul from the late 1880’s when construction on the Landmark Center began. The physical piece that hangs in the Landmark Center was created by replicating the streets on this map and is used as a grid by which porcelain letters hang. All of the text on the porcelain letters have been written by members of the public and transferred onto porcelain envelopes that I created in my studio.
